90 excited pupils from Highlands Primary School have enjoyed a tour of the new Kingswood building - much to the envy of school staff who have yet to do so! The tour was part of a day-long visit to Kingswood and saw pupils and their teachers donning hard hats and high visibility jackets for a full tour of the four storey building, including the dedicated Year 7 area and terrace. Pupils were amazed by the stunning views from the top floor and quickly identified their own houses and those of friends and relatives. Sincere thanks are due to Morgan Sindall staff who helped make the day very special for the youngsters involved.
Work on the new building is well underway and it will very soon be fully watertight - so work will be able to continue inside even in bad weather. The roof is on, glazing has been installed and work has begun on ground floor brickwork; the start of external cladding is expected within a few weeks. New furniture and equipment choices are currently being finalised and orders will be placed by the end of March to ensure delivery well in advance of the January 2013 opening.
