Brief Overview

All year groups are set by ability. Classes are taught in the Maths pod which has four teaching rooms and a departmental office. Some Year 7 classes are taught in the Year 7 pod.

This year has seen the introduction of a homework policy for all of years.

New schemes of work are being written to reflect the Numeracy Strategy. These will tie in the new textbooks and provide a very detailed framework to assist in lesson planning and curriculum development. All departmental documentation is being developed and rewritten and every full time member of the department is involved in this, thus giving them a sense of ownership of the direction and policies of the department. Resources too are being developed, with white boards and overhead projectors in every classroom.
