Brief Overview
The staff consists of a Head of Department, one Music teacher and eight visiting peripatetic teachers from the music support service.
The college’s Music Department is located at the far north end of the college in two purpose built rooms. Learners have access to the four practice rooms at lunchtimes and at the end of the day.
Each classroom is resourced with an interactive whiteboard, a range of classroom percussion instruments and a selection of keyboards.
Approximately 100 learners receive peripatetic instrumental or vocal training. The college holds the following musical activities for learners to participate in:-
♪ String/brass & woodwind ensemble
♪ Samba band
♪ Steel band
♪ Guitar club
♪ Rock band
The department holds concerts throughout the year in the college and in the community.

The schemes of work for Key Stage three follows QCA examples and at Key Stage four we do BTEC – pure music Edexcel syllabus.
