08/02/2010 - Fantastic GCSE Success!

All Year 11 students were entered in November for their English and Maths GCSE exams and the results showed that students at Kingswood continue to make great improvements.

27% achieved grade C or above in maths and 31% achieved grade C or above in English. Compared to last year, where we made huge improvements, this is another 10% increase in both subjects.

Recognition for outstanding performances has to go to Savanrnez ….. and Ria Marshall who both achieved grade A in English and Maths, and to Leisha Tomlyns who achieved a grade A in English.

We are using many strategies to make sure we improve these grades further in the summer exams. One of the biggest impacts came from those students who attended the Saturday workshops and half term workshops. These students made massive improvements with the average level 4 student making one level progress from the start to the end of the extra sessions.

What a brilliant way to start the year! When these results came in Jan, we had confirmation that we are well on target to make sure Kingswood achieves its best ever results in August 2010, for the second year running.
