Have you ever:
• tried to see someone at school and been told they’re not available?
• wanted to make a suggestion or complaint and not known who to go to?
• needed to ask about a school policy and been too embarrassed to?
• felt you had something to offer the school and not known who to tell?
• been unable to get through on the telephone?
• wanted some help as a parent and not known where to turn?
• been angry about something at school and needed to talk about it?
• wanted to get together with some other parents and been unsure how to go about it?
We know that it can sometimes be difficult to speak to someone in school when you need to and that is why we have launched Parent Services as our way of making it easier for you to communicate with us. This is like a school version of customer services - a single point of contact, providing you with the information, advice, guidance and support you need.
When we say parents, we mean this in the widest sense, so we include the different people involved in parenting our students, which might include step parents, grandparents, foster carers, older brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles.
Parent Services is based in our Learning Centre, so you don’t have to worry about going into the main school, and there will always be a friendly face there to give you the time you need. If you can’t get into school there is a dedicated telephone number and an email address.
Parent Services can:-
• provide information about your child’s progress
• ensure you can have face to face contact no matter what the situation
• deal with queries and request quickly and efficiently, sometimes without needing to involve teaching staff.
• support you in dealing with other school staff if you need to
• sell uniform and other resources
• help you access to family learning and adult learning opportunities
The service is available from 8.30am until 4.00pm every school day, but we plan to expand the opening hours to respond to your needs, including some opening in school holiday periods.
We want to make sure that Parent Services meets your needs, so please tell us what you think and how we can improve - and remember, if you do need to speak to a teacher, Parent Services is there to help make this happen – not to get in the way!
Come and see us in the Learning Centre – as a parent of a child at Kingswood College of Arts, you are important to us and whatever you need, we’ll do our best to help you get it.
