

Staff, students and governors are delighted with the college’s 2009 GCSE results. Over half of the Year 11 cohort (55% and counting) achieved 5 or more A*-Cs in this year’s exams and 24% achieved 5 or more A*-C including English and mathematics. These results are a dramatic improvement on last year’s.
Excluding last year’s “blip”, the college’s track record over the last seven years is one of continuous improvement and the Headteacher is confident the college will meet the government’s 30% floor target for 5 or more A*-Cs including English and Maths in 2009-10 - a year ahead of schedule.
There were some remarkable individual success stories, including students who gained between 10 and 16 A*-Cs and a special needs student who achieved 12 A*-Cs. SEN students in general enjoyed great success (22% gained at least 5 A*-Cs.
