We Care for Everyone

The college is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a range of safeguarding poliocies and procedures designed to protect the young people in our care (see Document Store).

Special Eductional Needs - SEN

The Learning Support Team works with children with many forms of special educational needs, ensuring they can access all aspects of our curriculum.

Learning Support Assistants support in class, based within departments and within Year 7, ensuring students’ needs are met.

Literacy Specialists undertake literacy support in KS3 and in KS4 and the students study for Certificates of Achievement in literacy and numeracy. By doing this we boost self-esteem and confidence and ensure that all students leave with nationally accredited certificates alongside their GCSEs.

Students with physical disabilities, visual and hearing impairments and autistic spectrum disorders are supported to ensure their difficulties do not hinder in all areas or our curriculum, both in and out of college.

Gifted and Talented

Our G&T provision aims to help improve the attainment and motivation of a cohort of 10-13% of gifted and talented children.

Our objectives are to identify our cohort of gifted and talented students, implement a teaching and learning programme for that cohort and a whole school policy for gifted and talented students, as well as training for and development for staff

Learning Mentors

Learning Mentors support students in Years 9 and 11, to ensure they are focused on learning, including completion of homeowrk and coursework. Where students are struggling with learning, the Learning Mentors can help.
